Fun in Treasure Island Florida
Treasure Island is a wonderful place.
What are you doing on Sunday nights?
Have you been to the public beach in Treasure Island and listened to the “Bongos on the beach”?
If not, you have to go. It is different, very carbine, tropical kind of s fun.
Every Sunday for sunset a lot of performers, gather on the public beach in Treasure Island and play the Bongos.
It attracts a huge crow all kinds of ages.
Everybody has a good time listening and dancing to the music. As far as I know this event is not organized by anybody in particular, it just started somehow with a handful of people and grew and grew and grew.
Some people just come by for a few songs, others stay all night dancing in the sand, some just stop on their way to dinner others bring a blanket and a cooler for dinner on the beach. It is a fun thing to do and it is different and very creative. Try to be there right before dawn so you can enjoy this event with a beautiful sunset in the background.
I as Realtor I believe that we sell more than houses and condos, we sell a lifestyle
So, this is one of my little contributions to living on Treasure Island Florida.
Need a haircut in Treasure Island
Treasure Island Florida practical information on our little town
The world is constantly changing,, Times have changed, as a Realtor I believe that we have to sell more than just the house or condo, we sell a life style.
There are so many similar properties in the same price range up and down the beach, that sometimes the property itself is not the biggest decision factor, but the location.
By location, I mean life style, things to do, the feeling a certain area has.
What is more important, the size of a bedroom or the walking distance to a great restaurant?
So, let me start to introduce Treasure Island to you, one post at a time.
Need a haircut or color, or. . . Treasure Island has a great salon.
I found this great hair salon ( by accident) on 108th Ave in Treasure Island.
The name is “Roots”, it is a small store and kind of tucked away, it does not stick out, you actually have to look for it.
It is located across the street from Treasure Island city hall and fire department.
If it is Barbara or Troy, you will be in good hands. They are very friendly and nice people that actually listen to what you want and make great suggestions.
Both of them are very creative and best of all, they can cut hair !!! I go all the time and I have never been disappointed.
Can the Canadian and European buyers find your FSBO in St Petersburg
I you are trying to sell your home or condo here in St Pete Florida,
as a FSBO you need to know that, in this kind of market, advertising is extremely important. Marketing your property for sale is one of the keys to success.
Not just a classified advertising in the local paper and flyers for your neighborhood, but website advertising. Get the word out on the internet.
The “snowbirds” are coming back soon and the Canadian $ and the Euro is very very strong right now.
Europeans and Canadians have bought property here in St. Pete for years and years. They use it as a vacation home or second home.
They have bought when the Canadian $ and the Euro was very low compared to the US.
So, this year with their $ and Euro being so strong, there is a good chance that they will buy real estate at a much higher rate than we have seen before.
Be prepared, they start looking on the websites NOW before they get here.
Make sure you can be found on the web.
Do not expect an immediate response, but make sure you start as soon as you can, it takes time to be found on the web.

Gulf Partnership for Marine Fisheries, Science for Fishing, Fishing for Science
That’s how their flyer reads.
Gulf Partnership For Marine fisheries is a joint venture of SOFA and FRA.
What is this all about? Fishing and science how does this add up?
SOFA and FRA felt the need to join forces to be able to supply, evaluate and interpret science that is used for the fishery management here in the golf of Mexico. The fishing industry has a huge impact on our overall economy here in Tampabay.
It concerns all of us and I urge you to get involved in this new movement
if you have a chance. Government restrictions have made it very difficult for the fishing industry to survive but the commercial fishery is not the only industry that is affected; the recreational fishery also feels the impact.
For the first time these two groups have come together as the Gulf Partnership for Marine Fisheries, they want to set the records straight and get regulations in place that make more sense. When you think about, you will easily see how this affects you the consumer, as in no fresh fish at all or very high prices for fresh fish, or you go out fishing and you are not allowed to keep you catch. So, again, if you can learn more about their cause and support them.

Madeira cove, condo community in Madeira beach
Madeira cove is a really nice and small condo complex here in Madeira Beach Florida.
It was built in 1997 and consists of 3 building with a total of 60 units.
It sits right on the Intracoastal Waterway and is only minutes away from famous John’s Pass.
The units are either 2 bedrooms or 3 bedrooms with 2 baths. The smaller units are 1250 heated square feet the bigger ones are 1425 heated square feet. All of them have a nice size balcony with a waterfront view. You can bring a pet up to 25 pounds and you can rent these units for 30 days or longer, 4 time a year.
The community features a heated pool and spa, fitness centre, fishing dock and tennis courts. The complex is located off 150 Ave in Madeira beach, witch is also Tom Steward causeway. Just a few walking minutes from the beaches, shopping and restaurants.
As an owner you have an assigned under building parking spot or covered parking under the carport. The buildings can only be accessed by a coded elevator.
Madeira Cove has a nice mixture of people who live here year around or snowbirds that come down for the season. The highest sales price in Madeira cove was in August 2005, a 1425 sqf, unit sold for $465,000. the lowest in may of 2008 was $250,000 for a 1250 sf. Unit.
Gulf parnership for Marine Fisheries Florida, What or Who is NMFS or NOAA
If you are like me, just a Florida resident that likes to eat fresh fish from the Gulf of Mexico, you will most likely be as ignorant as I was (sorry for the strong word)
But really, I never thought about the fishing industry, never realized the great impact that it has on everybody’s life and lifestyle. How much money is involved, how many jobs are at stake, how important this fishing business is to our tourist industry, that it has an impact on property values in Tampabay, that it affects the boating industry, and so on. We already have government restrictions (Office of Protected Resources (OPR) is a headquarters program office of National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries Service, or NMFS), under the US department of commerce with responsibility for protecting marine mammals and endangered marine life.) in place that sometimes do not make a lot of sense, but so far the fishing industry was able to survive, with the new restrictions coming up, that might change drastically.
Ask yourself one question, how will your life change if we do not find a fair and intelligent solution to this problem? Are you a restaurant owner that can not serve fresh fish anymore? Are you employed by a bait and tackle store that might have to close down? Are you a hotel owner that will loose a lot of tourist business because people can not fish our waters anymore? Are you a fisherman that makes a living by catching fish? Are you a homeowner that might see a decline of value because we do not have the fishing attraction anymore? Are you a snowbird hat comes to Florida to have the time of their live fishing? See, now you started thinking about the tremendous impact the fishing industry has on our lives and like it was for me I hope this is a wake up call and we stop being ignorant. Please check out the newly formed alliance between SOFA and FRA, The Gulf Partnership For Marine Fishery they can make a difference for us.
Florida Chamber of commerce what do they do to help the fishery
When it comes to our local fishing industry?
The Gulf Partnership For Marine Fisheries had their first public meeting last week
and I was very disappointed that I did not see any representative from the chamber of commerce, any chamber of commerce.
Well, maybe I should not be too hard on them, after all, The Gulf Partnership For Marine Fishery is a very new idea and the chambers might not have had time to get involved, but I sure hope that they will support this new partnership.
SOFA and FRA have joined forces and together they are fighting for our, YOUR right to fish the Florida waters and to keep a sensible balance for the environment when it comes to over or under fishing. This subject affects everybody that lives in Florida or comes here on vacation. As consumers, we want to be able to get fresh fish at any given time, caught right here in the Gulf of Mexico. As home owners we need this natural resource to keep our property values up (or not let them drop even more) As a business owner, we need the tourist money to make it in this economy. As concerned residence that care about Mother Nature, we need protect our local fish and waters.
The only way to do this is to get involved and support The Gulf Partnership For Marine Fishery. We need accurate and up to date science from experts in this field to fight government restriction that just do not make and sense.
