St. Petersburg Florida (May 2009) – Bayway Gourmet will roll out their “Summer-time when the Grilling is Easy” campaign Saturday May 9th, showcasing great cuts of meat, grills and smokers.  Partnering with Home Depot Tyrone, this event allows both businesses a cross-marketing opportunity and new and regular customers a chance to enjoy delicious food and how to choose that perfect grill.  .

Boar’s Head hot dogs will also be on the grill, as the Bayway Gourmet Butcher Shoppe carries all of their meats and cheeses.  Located on the Pinellas Baway, just west of Eckerd College the store is readily noticed with welcoming landscaping, umbrellas and Adirondack chairs.

Home Depot Tyrone will set up grills and smokers on location at the Bayway Gourmet Butcher Shoppe and grill masters will be doing the cooking.  A drawing will also be held with other “give-a- way” items.

No, make that the lucky Schabows, for they are the first Treasure Island visitors to pose with Bucky the Pirate at his new Community Center Park home. (In a perfect world, this would be you posing with Bucky.) How lucky do the Schabows feel? Like finding an elf finger in a box of Keebler cookies. Bucky had resided atop the Buccaneer Motel since shortly after the Earth cooled and continents formed. He was donated to the city in 2005 when the motel met a wrecking ball. Beach Graffiti          LANDING WAS EASY AS ABC: Action News, that is. After spending some quality air time hovering over Gator’s during the Florida vs. Oklahoma game January 8th, the WFTS news chopper pilot noticed the engine overheating and landed on the beach as a precaution. They hauled the chopper away on a flatbed truck the next day … AND OUR NEXT MODEL IS DRESSED IN SAFETY VEST ORANGE: Yes, when you call TI Public Works, you’re talking with THE Mary Ann Connors, who now can add “fashion model” to her resume. The staff is very friendly and the place is beautiful. High ceilings (and I mean 20 something feet) nice little bar area, outside seating etc. They have a Julep iced tea for $3 or an original Julep with Kentucky bourbon for $7. Their appetizers start at $7 up to $9 and entrees are somewhere around $19.

So, if you are somewhere in the area and want to taste southern cooking, the Savannah’s is the place to go. It is right on Central Ave in a beautifully restored old building.

My first day at CASA, community action stops abuse

I decided to start volunteering for casa and last night was their orientation for new Volunteers. It is every 2^nd Thursday of the month from 6 to 730pm at 1011 1^st. Ave N. It was very interesting and I found out that they do way more than I thought. CASA has about 200 volunteers right now and they need more. It is a great cause, so if you want to do something good for the community, maybe CASA is the right thing for you.                                                                 Check it out, their website is www.casa-stpete.org

Get into the  holiday mood, visit the Old North east neighborhood on Sunday the 7th of Dec.  See the community in a “different light “ and help a worthy local charity and neighborhood improvements. Afterwards you can go and have a nice dinner downtown or go to a movie in Baywalk or just stroll along the waterfront.

Thousand visitors come to Saint Pete every year to be part of this great event., and you should really put it in your Calendar.

I need to go, has been way to long since I heard Big Brother, one of my favorite local bands. Remember, Gators in Treasure island is right on the water, you can come by boat or car or bike and some might even be fortunate enough to live in walking distance. Come early so you can catch a beautiful sunset.
